Description
Depression can affect anyone. So this course is for everyone, whatever your age, gender, occupation or social status. Depression is different from usual mood changes and short-lived emotional reactions to challenges in everyday life. Especially when long-lasting, it may become a serious health condition when the affected person continues to suffer greatly and function poorly at work or at school and in the family and community. Depression can lead to suicide. However, it is very important to keep this in mind that depression is preventable and treatable.
This course tackles the problem of depression, analyses the causes and types of depression and consider technologies of how to cope with depression in healthy ways. The content of the course is based on the teachings of Bhakti Tirtha Swami. Students will watch fragments of videos with his lectures, read and discuss the chapter “Coping with depression” of his book “Spiritual Warrior 4”. Every day students exchange messages with each other via the chat, where the environment is very warm and welcoming so that students feel safe and happy to share their feelings, realizations, and concerns. The mentor of the course will help facilitate the conversations and share inspirational materials daily for mutual discussion.
